Nick Coons Announces Run for Congress in 2010 - 03/11/2008
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
TEMPE, AZ - This week, small business owner and Phoenix native Nick Coons (L) has announced he'll be running for the US Congress in District 5 in 2010, a seat currently held by Rep. Harry Mitchell (D). Coons has been a long-time holder of libertarian ideals, which focuses on limited government, a fiscally conservative budget, and personal freedoms. "There are so many problems at the federal level of government," commented Coons, "that it can be hard to set specific goals as there's just so much to choose from in the way of problem solving. While the big picture would be to work on getting government out of our everyday lives, and let us live as we see fit, I would focus on legislation towards that end, such as limiting congressional power with the Enumerated Powers Act, and the One Subject At a Time Act." Details of these acts can be found at the campaign's website, http://www.nickcoonsforcongress.com.
Nick Coons will be running on the Libertarian Ticket, and if elected, will be the first US Representative to serve in Congress as a Libertarian. "That's one of the reasons I'm waiting until 2010 to run," said Coons. "There's a lot of work to do in the form of gaining name recognition and getting the issues out there. Everyone knows who's running for President, but few people pay attention to congressional races and they just vote along party lines. Being a Libertarian presents an additional challenge." The congressional hopeful goes on to joke, "Plus, have you seen the website? It looks great, but we'll need another two years to make it as content-rich as we need it to be."
"The goal is certainly to win," he says, "but even short of that, I'm hoping that publicly discussing issues and showing people that the freedom solution, not the government, is the best answer to our problems will have a positive impact."
My amazing, wonderful lovely husband. Oh, swoon!
1a NO MENTION
WHATSOEVER of Ronald Reagen. We get it. He was awesome. He'd also
dropkick you in the teeth Chuck Norris style if he heard how his name
was being thrown around.
1b Hannity&Colmes will NOT do post-debate shows in FOX
2 Huckabee can't whine about how hard it was to be a Governor.
3 Guiliani can not mention the following: "As Mayor of New York City," or any instance of "Mayor of New York City."
4 Romney shall refrain from pointing out the obvious ("recessions are bad") and eating up his 90 seconds, then proceed to demand more time after the time bell sounds.
5 Thompson must continue to act as though he doesn't care and say whatever he wants
6 McCain must refrain from mentioning the amazing things he's done for his "border state" (which fails miserably when it comes to illegal immigration & last in the country for education)
6b McCain will also refrain from addressing the audience as "my friends",and "my dear friends"
7 Ron Paul must continue to be fiesty, outspoken and force his way through his time instead of playing nicely.
NOTE: This IS a political post. If you're not interested in the rantings of a libertarian, just ignore.
Im sitting here watching the post show for the most recent republican debates. I have watched just about every debate (save for one or two) in 2007 &all so far in 08. I have never felt so angry, frustrated and disgusted by just watching television.
Yes, I'm a Libertarian, and YES, I support Ron Paul, but it really would shock me that someone could possibly listen to what he said (democrat or republican, or independent or whatever) and have it not make sense.
To me, that doesn't make sense.
He explains very clearly WHY things are the way they are, and justification without education is guaranteed failure. The candidates justify what America is doing and it's place in the world without understanding WHY things happen the way they do and it's completely asinine!
If people who stop living in the bubble that the rest of the world is jealous of America and the lifestyle and actually look for MOTIVES behind attacks on this country (which Ron Paul attempts to do at every media given moment) they would see how these problems could be solved. Albeit, not tomorrow, or not in the next few years, but ultimately would solve the problems.
Ron Paul did a stellar job, in my opinion, and really proved tonight, that he is worth all of the grassroots support we've been giving.
... last night, in a moment of common sense and logic (which, trust me, in my world is a rare occurance) I decided I should spend some time listening to other candidates (other than my beloved Libertarian of choice - PAUL 08!) and sat down to watch Obama on MTV.
While Im definetely not on point with 100% of what he says...
... I kinda like him.
Like, if Paul doesn't win in the primaries, I might be forced to consider him seriously if he does.
Oh sweet jesus.
Me. And a Democrat.
Where's my gun?
Because there are so many hot guys that are willing to write and more importantly make videos about why they are passionate.

ETA: I didn't credit this properly. I didn't write this, Nick did. But we share the same views.
This may be well-known to some people, but most of the American public is completely unaware.
In 1913, Congress established the Federal Reserve, a cartel made up of private banks (that is, the Federal Reserve is not a government agency). When Congress needs money to spend and it doesn't have it, the Federal Reserve prints it and loans it to them. We pay interest on this loan, currently around $900 billion each year.
Guess what else is $900 billion per year -- The amount of federal income tax collected from Americans. So the income taxes you pay to the IRS don't actually pay for anything, they just pay interest on a debt, and an unneeded debt at that.
Why is the debt unneeded? Because Congress has the constitutional authority to coin money themselves. So why would Congress borrow money and pay interest on it when it doesn't have to?
Because Congress is only allowed to create money out of gold and silver. The Federal Reserve, while it has no authority under the constitution, prints paper money that is worthless. It only has value because they say it has value and we believe them. Because of this, they are the cause of virtually every monetary crisis this country has suffered in the past 100 years, including the Great Depression.
Here's an example. Let's say that I'm a very wealthy developer, and I need to borrow money to develop land. Money that I borrow in large quantities was recently printed by the Federal Reserve. When I make my purchases, I make them at a set price. But once I've flooded the market with new paper money, the market will realize the increased money supply and cause monetary inflation -- That is, increased prices without an increase in demand or a decrease in supply. By the time this new money makes it to the middle and lower classes, the money is worth less because prices have gone up.
This is why "the poor get poorer and the rich get richer" and "the middle class is disappearing" as we so often hear. The vast majority of people don't understand this, and they blame the free market and lack of government regulation for this. And then they call for government assistance like universal health care and education.
As we know, the government spends more money than it brings in, which is why we have this inflation problem that causes the middle and lower classes to become poorer. So what would happen if government started providing for universal health care and everything else? They would spend more money that they don't have, which means they would print more money, which means the debt would go up, inflation would go up, poor people would get even poorer, rich people would get even richer, and we'd be feeding this perpetual cycle; because we'd need the government to provide even more.
Why would the government want spend money so irresponsibly? Because spending money without increasing taxes is traditionally what gets politicians re-elected. And the banks that own the Federal Reserve like it because the more the government spends, the more it borrows, and the more interest the Federal Reserve collects from the federal income tax.
How do we get out of this cycle? First, we get rid of the Federal Reserve and we put our government back onto a sound money system (that is, it has backing like gold and silver), because they should only be able to coin money out of things that are actually money. This would virtually eliminate monetary inflation so prices stabilize and prices don't keep skyrocketing.
Then, we get rid of the IRS. Without the federal income tax, we don't really need them anymore. And without an income tax, people will have more control over their money.
Of course, we could keep looking at things on the surface and say that the government should keep taking care of us, giving all of our money to the rich and leaving nothing for us. It was Adolf Hitler who said, "Lucky for rulers that men do not think."
I normally don't impose my political views, but I love Ron Paul, and if you don't, you should. It's not a Republican vs Democrat thing, it's an American thing. Enjoy his message about his recent trip to SoCal, and find out some of his ideas.Oh, and I've bolded the important parts for you lazies.
July 17, 2007What a day and half in northern California! On Friday, my first
appointment was at 6:00 am, and my day ended at 11:00 pm. I did radio
and tv interviews in San Francisco, followed by a meeting with the
editorial board of the San Francisco Chronicle. The questions were tough
but fair: my favorite! Meanwhile, more and more interview requests pour
into the campaign. There is a real hunger for our ideas, even in the
mainstream media. The message of liberty is popular! Then I headed for Google, one of America's great businesses. Some of
the young stars who populate that company took me on a tour of a firm
that seemed like a university student union. I saw where everyone
works, eats, and exercises. Next I did a political YouTube interview
with questions submitted from the web. I was told that never had
Google, in the entire history of this series, received the sheer number
of questions that it had for my interview. People care about freedom. Then I spent an hour answering questions from Google employees, crowded
into a large room with overflow rooms overflowing too. Next was
fascinating briefing from some of the technical heads of Google Earth,
Google Maps, Google Apps, and other extraordinary innovations. Then
there was a press conference for the media gathered in a company
courtyard, and then a fundraising reception that a group of Google
employees had organized off-site. In the evening there was another
successful fundraiser.Saturday morning was the Silicon Valley Meetup in a park right next to
Google. A huge and enthusiastic crowd was there to hear about our
ideas, and the diversity was astounding. There were bikers in leather
and hippies, young parents and grandparents, high-tech workers and
business owners, and so many young Americans.I talked about all our ideas: marching out of Iraq just as we marched
in; no more meddling in the Middle East; bringing the troops home, from
hundreds of expensive bases all over the world, so that we could have
the money we need for the transition to freedom in social programs, and
to abolish the personal income tax and the IRS. They are not compatible
with a free society. In a Ron Paul administration, we would also repeal the Patriot Act and
the Military Commissions Act, restore habeas corpus and stop the spying
on Americans. No more eavesdropping on our emails and bank accounts,
our phone calls, home and businesses. No national ID -- just the bracing
freedom of the Constitution. We must have sound money, and not a giant counterfeiting machine called
the Federal Reserve that causes recessions and inflation. We must have
private property rights, with no pollution or other attacks on property.
We should enforce the Second Amendment, and all the Bill of Rights.
We can have privacy for us, not secrecy for a corrupt bureaucracy. It is all within our grasp, the restoration of the republic and our
sovereignty.... no UN, no North American Union, no Nafta, no WTO, no World
Bank, no IMF. Just federalism, free enterprise, peace, prosperity, and
the kind of future we all want for our families, ourselves, and our
fellow Americans. The dream can be a reality. You can help make it so. Please: make
your most generous donation to this effort for America's future
(https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate/). Instead of wars and inflation
and spying and poverty, we can have peace and freedom and the blessings
for our children and grandchildren of doing better than we have, of
secure retirements and childhoods. No more theft -- of our savings or
our liberty. Please -- give to this campaign, for all our futures
(https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate/).Sincerely,
Ron
